HAIL TO DREAMS ON THE FIELD WITH THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS

Local Non-Profit Dreams For Kids DC Partners With The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation To Create Memorable Day For Children With Disabilities

REDSKINS PARK, VA –The Redskins’ practice field will see children of all ages on Sunday, July 21st , as Redskin players grace the field to work with children with physical and developmental disabilities. As part of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation initiative to impact the lives of children that need it most through health and wellness programs; the Redskins will meet 100 kids on the field for an inspiring day. Dreams For Kids DC (DFKDC) is a local nonprofit that provides life-changing activities that empower children with physical and developmental disabilities to unite with their peers and realize their potential. All too often children with disabilities are isolated and don't have adequate opportunities to partake in physical activities that other children are able to experience daily.

“It was a great experience for my son. At first he was really scared and cried the first 30 mins. After much encouragement from his volunteer AND seeing his siblings have fun, he then joined in and was more and more confident as each minute went by. Our entire family had a wonderful time! It made all the difference in my son's mood, willingness to participate, and confidence level. It was a great experience for the entire family.” – DFKDC mom Krista Ruley (parent of Jhaylen Depugh, Janiyah Proctor, Khyrie Proctor) at the 2017 DFKDC Football clinic

Thanks to presenting sponsor DARCARS and Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, as well as supporting sponsor Captech; Dreams For Kids DC is able to provide a completely free adaptive football clinic for special needs children. The day will include different drills, autographs & photos with players, and more. Many local companies and volunteers support the children’s charity to help organize this large-scale event.

“For the past three years, the DARCARS family has proudly sponsored Dreams For Kids DC sports clinics, which have an amazing impact on the lives of children working to overcome physical and developmental disabilities,” said DARCARS CEO John Darvish. “We are excited to continue that partnership this year by sponsoring the Dreams For Kids DC Football clinic with the Washington Redskins and I am personally looking forward to volunteering at this fantastic event.”

Former Washington Redskin, current Redskins Defensive Quality Control Coach, and DFKDC Ambassador Kyshoen Jarrett will return to lead the day with a moving speech regarding his own experience with his brother’s disability.

“Being a DFKDC Ambassador has provided me with an immense level of appreciation for parents of children with disabilities,” stated Jarrett. “Seeing the hope each child seeks daily is powerful. While leading the 2018 DFKDC Football clinic, I was able to intently watch the smiles on many family’s faces—all having a sense of relief and pure joy for their loved one(s).”

Dreams For Kids DC clinics are adaptive clinics held once or twice a month for children with disabilities aged 4 – 24. Through these events, those with physical and developmental disabilities are able to come off the sidelines and unite with their peers. The empowerment and self-confidence gained through the clinic will carry over from the field to the home, classroom, and the community, allowing them to realize that their disability will not prevent them from fulfilling their dreams. Each child is partnered with a volunteer to learn the essence of teamwork, have a mentor, and also bond over a sense of camaraderie.
