Teresa Fox was born and raised in Maryland with her two brothers, Roger and Brian. Brian, her younger brother, has Down syndrome and Teresa has always played a very active role in his life. Her mother started their family’s relationship with the Down syndrome community by attending Parents Of Down Syndrome (P.O.D.S.) events such as annual Christmas parties. In 2010, Teresa joined the Air Force as an Airborne Cryptologic Language Analyst and spent the first five years of her career away from her family. In 2015, she was assigned to Fort George G. Meade in Maryland and has resumed her role as the active big sister in Brian’s life. She spends much of her free time volunteering with various organizations within the special needs community, in addition to Dreams for Kids DC. She first got involved with DFKDC in 2015, shortly after arriving to her childhood home. She brings to the team a perspective of someone who understands the unique challenges caring for someone with special needs can present. She also has first-aid training, speaks two other languages, and has been frequently involved in the military’s booster clubs which are responsible for organizing morale events for military units and their families.
