Dreams For Kids DC (DFKDC) D.C. United Soccer Clinic 2017
Dreams For Kids DC (DFKDC) partnered with D.C. United to hold a special soccer clinic for children with disabilities. The event featured D.C. United players, Sean Franklin and Kofi Opare and awesome volunteers! Huge thanks to our sponsors DARCARS and MAXIMUS Foundation. Dreams For Kids DC provides free life-changing activities to empower children with physical and mental disabilities to unite with their peers and realize their potential. Dreams For Kids DC (DFKDC) provides adaptive sports clinics for children with disabilities between the ages of 4-24. Many of these children are bullied in schools and left out of activities with their able-bodied peers. DFKDC clinics empower this often isolated group to come off the sidelines and participate in activities such as waterskiing, dance, football and ice hockey, sometimes for the very first time. The self-confidence gained through these programs carries over from the field and rink to the home and classroom, allowing each participant to realize that their disability will not prevent them from fulfilling their dreams. www.dreamsforkidsdc.org

Dreams for Kids DC presents a new and moving video series, DFK 101. The series documents the personal interaction between 1 player and 1 kid during Dreams for Kids DC's Extreme Recess event. A look inside a moment of a lifetime. Episode 1 features Connor Carrick of the Washington Capitals. Extreme Recess is an innovative athletic program that provides adaptive sports clinics, 1-3 times a month, to children between the ages of 4 and 24 with physical or developmental disabilities. Each of our clinics host between 50-100 participants and have a 1:1 participant to volunteer ratio. Extreme Recess also acts as a platform to connect organizations that serve children with disabilities in DC, MD, and VA with the families of children with disabilities. www.dreamsforkidsdc.org/donate
Dreams For Kids DC Prom 2017
Dreams For Kids DC provides life-changing activities that empower children with physical and developmental disabilities to unite with their peers and realize their potential. DFKDC events are adaptive sports clinics held once or twice a month for children with disabilities aged 4 – 24. Through our events, those with physical and developmental disabilities are able to come off the sidelines and unite with their peers. A lot of these children have been bullied in schools, and are left out of activities with able-bodied children. The empowerment and self confidence gained through the clinic will carry over from the field to the home, classroom, and the community, allowing them to realize that their disability will not prevent them from fulfilling their dreams. Each child is partnered with a volunteer to learn the essence of teamwork, have a mentor, and also bond over a sense of camaraderie. www.DreamsForKidsDC.org
